Edy Ferguson was born in Chicago, where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. She then moved to New York and art directed music videos, culminating in MTV Award for Best Video for the song Jeremy, by Pearl Jam in 1993. Afterwards, she enrolled in a Master of Fine Arts combined media program from at Hunter College, City of New York. In 2007 she travelled to Vienna and then to Athens where she worked between residencies in Europe and New York. Edy Ferguson’s comprehensive installation articulates different areas of of her oeuvre, a multi-layered view of her work in using various techniques - drawing, installation, performance, video, and painting - in the form of a Gesamkunstwerk, - or ‘Total Artwork’.
Ferguson has exhibited in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, London, Jersey, Paris, Nantes, Rome, Geneva, Athens, Thessaloniki, Caracas, Mardin, Torun, Vienna, and Innsbruck. Her work is represented internationally in several high profile collections such as The George Economou Collection, Monique Barbier-Mueller, Mercedes Vilardell, and the Baroness Marion Lampert Collection (LAC). Most recently she received a response grant for an upcoming exhibition by Arts Council England (2020). In 2019 she was invited to propose a public art work for the Yangling Mausoleum and Museum site in China, and lecture in participation with the Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts International Public Art Workshop (2019). She also received a British Council travel grant (2019).
